Baby Snoopy
With Selena and Toshi getting the Bride and Groom Snoopy, it only made sense to make their baby gift a Puppy Snoopy.
Color-wise, Baby Snoopy was easy to build--some basic colors (blue, white, and black). The challenge was the leg and lower torso structure.
The lower torso is pretty solid, with the tail and the legs being modular. The difference is the legs needed to be at a 90 degree angle from the body (studs of the legs are going sideways, instead of on top).
Because of the size (8 inches high) is small compared to the full size Snoopy (About 2 feet tall), the back of the head did not to be weighted to offset the weight of the nose.
Using the full size Snoopy as a model, I made the head small and the ears proportionally larger. If you have seen a beagle puppy, they always look like they're going to trip over their own ears (and sometimes do).
Baby Snoopy has the flappy ears like his dad, but his head doesn't rotate. Instead, his paws can rotate so he can hold something (like a baby gift), or be rotated to look like he's holding his feet.
The eyes and the nose are made smaller proportional to give him a more childlike appearance. He has a little button nose, which also makes him look a little more puppy-like :)
I wanted to make him more articulate, but I was alrady having enough challenges trying to get him done before Charles was no longer a baby.
The part that took the longest was the leg attachment to the lower torso. The orignial way it was connected was not stable and kept causing the entire sculpture to fall apart.
Fortunately, after the rebuild of the lower section, the rest was much more stable. Baby Snoopy is a one of a kind, mostly because I want to work on other projects and I think Charles' parents like their family of Beagles. :)
Some stats: about 8 inches tall (same height as the Maneki Neko), not very heavy, lots of white plates and bricks, and about 1,000 total pieces.
No building process pictures this time. Was under a time crunch.
