Script Cal

My first original piece, which was all a Christmas present for my fiance' Russ (that way no one else would get him the same thing :-)

It all started when I was looking for something original for his Christmas present a couple of years ago, and I looked at my Lego bricks thinking.. hmmmm.. (which is usually something I don't say when I think, so this time I knew I had an idea!)

Being as crazy into football and school spirit that I am (and that Russ is to an extent..), I looked through my tubs of Lego bricks and starting sorting through the blue and yellow bricks (Cal's colours are blue and gold).

Look! Blue and yellow bricks! All I need are enough of them (what's enough when you're not even sure of the scale?).

Once I had something to start working on.. lessee.. what has the script Cal on it? My roommate's jacket! (Thanks Ay-chan :-). So, for three late nights (remember the working thing?) I ran back and forth from the living room table and Target (to get more blue tubs of bricks, a total of three more to get the Cal done..).

When I finally started making progress on the yellow portion of the Cal (which is 1 stud thick, the blue outline is 2 studs thick, making it a bit of a relief), I filled it in slowly with blue to keep it from falling apart.

Three days and about 1500 bricks later, the Cal is done (and Russ got his Christmas present early because I was afraid to break it).

To make it more interesting, this was probably one of my least expensive projects: it only took three of the blue tubs (I'll find the part number later) to get enough blue and yellow bricks.
